IMED Mobility Wheelchair Van Dealer Goes Pheasant Hunting with the American North Chapter of PVA
Wheelchair accessible vehicle dealer IMED Mobility of Tea, South Dakota participated in the 4th annual two-day pheasant hunt held by Wild Dakota Television, Birds, Bucks & Berries Lodge and the North Central Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America on Wednesday and Thursday, October 20-21, 2010.
Jon Becker, mobility consultant at IMED Mobility, drove a Honda Odyssey accessible wheelchair van with a VMI Northstar conversion to the Lodge. “This is a service we provide for our vets,” Becker said. “We show them the equipment and ask if they have any questions.”
The group, which was composed of nine veterans and sponsors, met at the Birds, Bucks & Berries (BBB) Lodge south of Parker, South Dakota. Each morning began with a breakfast while awaiting the group’s arrival, followed by trap shooting at Ghost Town. After they were done with the clay pigeons the real hunting began. With the veterans at the end of the field, the others pushed the birds towards them. Action Trackchair from Marshall, Minnesota brought in a few all terrain track chairs for the group to demo during the hunt.
Twenty five birds were harvested the first day and twenty seven the second day. Each of the veterans went home with their limit of three birds.
Sponsors for the event were IMED Mobility, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 1, Mid Dakota Vegetation Management, US Bank-Minneapolis, MN, Action Manufacturing, Fiocchi of America, Vern Eide Motorcars, Russ Duerksen, John Quinlan and Paul Reynolds.
